Champagne Shallot Vinaigrette Salad Dressing
I used to be intimidated by making my own salad dressing for some reason. I thought it would take forever to make and wouldn’t taste as good as my favorite store-bought brands. I only thought people who were amazing cooks made their own dressing. Once I started becoming more confident in the kitchen, I discovered that making salad dressing is quite simple and tastes so much better, many times, than store-bought dressings!
Benefits of Clean Salad Dressings
So many of the salad dressings in stores are filled with added sugar and other additives. Yes, there are many brands out there with “cleaner” ingredients but why not try to whip up a batch of your own dressing?
If you actually stop and take the time to look on the back of salad dressings in the grocery store, you might be surprised to see what’s actually in the dressings. Many times, those salads dressings are designed and marketed to make us think we’re eating clean and healthy by advertising them as “all natural” or slapping pretty pictures of fruits and vegetables on the front. So many dressings include a ton of preservatives and added sugars. Remember, if you can’t pronounce it, you probably don’t need to eat it! The fewer the ingredients, the better!
I talk more about this in my How to Overhaul Your Pantry Guide.
Champagne Shallot Vinaigrette Salad Dressing Recipe
2 garlic cloves
1/3 cup + 1 tbsp avocado oil
2 tbsp champagne vinaigrette
Salt & Pepper
Juice of a lemon
In the stove top, brown 2 minced garlic cloves and 1 diced shallot in 1 tbsp avocado oil until brown. Transfer to a small bowl and whisk the garlic and shallots with the lemon juice, champagne vinegar, and salt and pepper. Gradually whisk in the oil. Feel free to add more oil or water to cut the taste of the dressing a bit if you’d like.
