Drinking Smoothies for Weight Loss

Smoothies are a major part of my daily routine — I don’t know what I would do without them. They’ve helped me lose weight because I’m now more focused on filling my body with nutrient-rich food in smoothies instead of highly processed foods that don’t leave me feeling satisfied. Smoothies are great because I’m now eating more fruits and vegetables than I was before and I have so much more energy. I reach for a smoothie for a snack or dessert instead of junk food. If I’m out and about and know I’m not going to have a chance to sit down and I have nutritious meal, I’ll make myself a smoothie before I walk out the door. Smoothies are great to use as full meal replacements or as snacks to add into your diet. I love experimenting and creating different versions depending on what’s available at the store. This smoothie is extra sweet so if you’re craving a sweet treat, try making this instead of grabbing chocolate or cookies.

The Health Benefits of Smoothies

This smoothie contains strawberries, bananas, kiwis, and avocado, all of which contain great health benefits. Strawberries, blueberries, and kiwi are high in fiber, vitamin C, vitamin K potassium, and have great anti-inflammatory nutrients. I love adding blueberries to smoothies because they’re very nutrient-dense but don’t contain a lot of calories as they’re about 85% water. Banana is a great source of potassium and gives this smoothie so much sweetness and adds great flavor. Avocado thickens the consistency of the smoothie and is a great source of fiber, potassium and healthy fats to leave you satisfied for hours. The healthy fat in avocado is mostly made up of oleic acid, which has been shown to help reduce inflammation. Don’t be afraid to add healthy fats to your smoothies. Heathy fats don’t make you fat!
