Looking to spice up your smoothies a bit and take them to the next level? Adding superfoods to smoothies is a great way to include powerful nutrients to your diet. Superfoods can boost your metabolism and help you fight disease and have many anti-inflammatory benefits.
You may or may not know what a superfood is — something is designated as a superfood when it especially nutrient dense. Not every fruit, vegetable, and protein is created equal. Some are more powerful than others!

Here are some superfoods to consider adding to your smoothies to pack an extra punch of nutrients to your day. There are many to choose from, but here’s a list of some to start with.
How to Buy Your Superfoods
When you purchase superfoods, make sure you’re buying organic products from a trusted company that sources and processes their products responsibly. For smoothies, it’s best to buy superfoods in powder form or in liquid drops (like chlorophyll).
Acai Berry Superfood Smoothie Recipe
Today I added acai powder to my smoothie. Acai has super high levels of antioxidants, essential fatty acids, 19 different amino acids, and a ton of fiber. It has anti-cancer properties, is rich in vitamins and minerals, and is low in sugar.
In a blender combine:
1/2 cup mango
1/3 cup blueberries
1-1/5 cups almond milk
1 tbsp acai powder
