A Simple Knit Triangle Shawl

A triangle shawl is a great project for beginner knitters. This shawl in particular is designed to be very straight forward and easy for those just starting to knit. All you need to know how to do is cast on, knit, and increase a stitch using the backwards loops method. Never done this before? Have no fear — I created a step by step video tutorial that walks you through exactly how to make this fabulous triangle shawl.

If knitting this sounds complicated, don’t worry — I’ll show you exactly how!

I absolutely love knitting shawls because they can be worn so many different ways—like a bandana cowl, draped across your shoulders, or wrapped around one side. Check out my fun Instagram Reel to see my three favorite ways I like to wear my triangle shawl.

Materials

Please note that you can you ANY SIZE knitting needle and ANY WEIGHT yarn for this project. I’m just listing out the materials I used in the pictures and for the video tutorial.

Instructions

Row 1 (and all odd rows): Knit to the end
Row 2 (and all even rows): Knit 1 stitch, make 1 stitch (using the backward loop method), knit to the end
Repeat Rows 1 + 2 to desired size and bind off on a Row 1
